BATH. A WORLD WAR TWO VETERAN IN PORTSMOUTH IS CELEBRATING HIS 102ND BIRTHDAY. JOHN B ROBINSON SPOKE AT THE PORTSMOUTH SENIOR CENTER TODAY, TALKING ABOUT HIS TIME IN IWO JIMA. A World War II veteran in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, celebrated his 102nd birthday on Wednesday.John B. Robinson spoke at the Portsmouth Senior Center, sharing memories from his time serving in the Battle of Iwo Jima. A U.S. Marine veteran, Robinson helped pinpoint hidden enemy artillery back in 1945. Nearly 100 people attended the event to hear his stories firsthand."As we started mentioning it to people and promoting it, people just really embraced hearing that a 102-year-old was going to be able to tell his own story about his time in Iwo Jima. So here we are today with an unbelievable turnout," said Wendy Switzer, administrator of the living facility.Robinson is the last surviving member of the Fifth Marine Ranging Unit.
