Uh, have I had, uh, uh, different run-ins with people, whether it be drunks or or wise guys, yeah. But 87 year old Lauren Schwartz. Bing bang, boom. So I'm, I'm doing it slow, but it happened in milliseconds. He says this is the first time anyone's ever attempted to rob him. It's *** Rolex president. It's gold. And you can see it *** block away. Schwartz and his wife Joanna Cucha were heading into the senior center located off East 23rd Street around 11 a.m. on Wednesday when Cucha says *** man approached her and asked her for directions. He said, um, I want to go to *** Walmart. I said, There are no Walmarts in Manhattan, Cucha says the man asked her to talk to his wife in *** jeep nearby, and the woman began showing her jewelry and then attempted to snatch hers. She wouldn't let go. She scratched me. Schwartz says he went to his wife's rescue. And she touches me like that there. Now I have an alert. Schwartz says the woman inside the Jeep put *** fake Rolex on him. She got her hand under here and that's where the clasp was. And then went for his real $48,000 Rolex, sparking *** struggle. I grabbed her hand like this. She's inside the car and I did this, he says years of self-defense classes and boxing kicked in, and she was screaming her brains out. I mean, I'm stronger than most people. Schwartz held on to his watch, and police say the two suspects fled the scene. Scratches and bruises on both of their hands are *** reminder of the. And they never expected two great heads like us. We look old enough to take advantage of, I guess. The they have to pay out of pocket to have the watch repaired. An 87-year-old New Yorker said he successfully fought off two people who tried to steal his Rolex watch and rob his wife on the street.Lawrence Schwartz said he and his wife, Joanna Cuccia, were walking into a senior center off East 23rd Street in Manhattan at around 11 a.m. Wednesday when one of the suspects stopped and asked them for directions. "He said 'I want to go to a Walmart.' I said there are no Walmarts in Manhattan," Cuccia said. Cuccia said the man asked her to speak with his wife, who was sitting nearby in a Jeep, and the wife started showing Cuccia jewelry before attempting to snatch Cuccia's own jewelry."She wouldn't let go. She scratched me," Cuccia said. Boxing and self-defense training kicked inSchwartz said he immediately went to his wife's rescue. But the woman in the Jeep tried to take his $48,000 watch off his wrist and switch it with a counterfeit one, he said. "It's a Rolex President. It's gold and you can see it a block away," he said.
