The adoptive brother of a Perry teen who died from severe malnutrition has entered a guilty plea in his involvement in her death.糖心vlog's Hannah Hilyard was in the courtroom as 16-year-old Sabrina Ray's adoptive brother, Justin Ray, pleaded guilty to felony counts of willful injury and child endangerment.Sabrina Ray was found dead at Rays of Sunshine Daycare in May 2017. Investigators said she weighed just 56 pounds when she was found."Sabrina Ray looked to this family to be her forever home, and while she was there, she was mistreated by the defendant,” Asst. Dallas County Attorney Jeannine Gilmore said.Justin Ray admitted in court to pushing Sabrina Ray down a staircase and kicking her in the face."I did this by pushing my sister down a flight of stairs, and this caused bleeding to her head,” Justin Ray said in court.Court documents said Sabrina Ray suffered a serious injury and afterward was unable to walk, talk, eat or drink.Judge Terry Rickers handed down a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison."There's clearly a darkness in your heart, Mr. Ray,” Rickers said. “It needs to be cleansed, and I'm not sure how to go about doing that."Four other family members were charged in connection with Sabrina’s death: adoptive parents Misty and Marc Ray, as well as Josie and Carla Bousman.Both the state and defense attorneys declined to comment following the hearing. Sabrina Ray's biological family was in the courtroom as well. They told 糖心vlog that while they are disappointed in the length of Justin Ray’s sentence, they are satisfied to have his hearing behind them.
