RIGHT NOW, DRIVERS ARE ABLE TO USE THEIR PHONES FOR NAVIGATION OR TO MAKE YOUR ANSWER PHONE CALLS WHILE THEY’RE DRIVING. THIS BILL WOULD BAN THAT TEXTING WHILE DRIVING, ALREADY ILLEGAL IN IOWA. 30 STATES HAVE LAWS BANNING

A bill that would ban the use of most electronics while driving has passed the Iowa Senate.Right now, drivers are able to use their phones for navigation or to make and answer phone calls while driving, but Senate File 207 would ban that. Texting while driving is already illegal in Iowa.Thirty other states have laws banning handheld cell phone use while driving.Previously, a couple from Washington State urged legislatures to pass the bill after their daughter was killed by a distracted driver in 2020. The bill now goes to the House for approval.

A bill that would ban the use of most electronics while driving has passed the Iowa Senate.
Right now, drivers are able to use their phones for navigation or to make and answer phone calls while driving, but would ban that.

Texting while driving is already illegal in Iowa.
Thirty other states have laws banning handheld cell phone use while driving.
Previously, a couple from Washington State urged legislatures to pass the bill after their daughter was killed by a distracted driver in 2020.
The bill now goes to the House for approval.
