The bridal company that recently filed for bankruptcy and informed customers that any orders not fulfilled would be canceled is holding an auction for the remaining gowns still in inventory.
A bankruptcy judge in Florida approved the auctioning of approximately 6,000 wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses and other accessories in inventory from Alfred Angelo.
Alfred Angelo caused a nationwide panic among its brides after the company revealed it was filing for bankruptcy. Brides who made orders before the announcement rushed to find out what would happen to their wedding dresses.
The company attempted to complete the orders that were left unfulfilled but according to its statement, “it has now become apparent that the logistical and financial strain of fulfilling each and every open order makes continuing that course of action no longer possible.”
The items to be auctioned off include sample dresses and in stock items from company’s stores and not dresses that had been purchased by brides.
The auction will be held on Sept. 2 at 9 a.m. at Alfred Angelo’s Broward County warehouse.
