It's official—Cameron Diaz has confirmed that she has retired from the film industry.
was the first to state that Diaz was no longer working, commenting in an earlier this month. However, she quickly backtracked and tweeted, "Guys please, I was making a joke in an interview," Blair . "CAMERON DIAZ is NOT retiring from ANYTHING. And for more breaking news: I am NOW retiring from being Cameron Diazās spokesperson."
Now Diaz herself has spoken out during an interview with , in which she reunites with both Blair and Christina Applegate, her co-stars from the 2002 film The Sweetest Thing.
Discussing how often the trio have met up since filming together, the following exchange takes place:
Cameron Diaz: Maybe I should [join], you know, I mean, Iām down. Iām literally doing nothing.
Christina Applegate: Iām literally doing nothing, too! Iām semi-retired, I havenāt worked for years. Iām a mom, thatās what we do. So Iām around, man.
Diaz: Thatās so awesome. Iām totally down. Iām semi-retired, too, and I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies.
Diaz's last film role was in 2014's Annie, and she's rarely attended Hollywood events since then. She touched on why she had stepped away from acting during the Goop Wellness Summit last summer, "I just went, 'I can't really say who I am to myself,' which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole."
