WE’RE NEARING THE END OF THE 2025 IOWA LEGISLATIVE SESSION. THIS IS THE LAST WEEK LAWMAKERS GET THEIR PER DIEM. LAWMAKERS HAVE TO PASS A BUDGET TO CONCLUDE THE SESSION. THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO THAT BY THE END OF THE DAY THIS FRIDAY. OTHERWISE, THEIR WORK WILL CONTINUE WITHOUT THAT PER DIEM BENEFIT. THERE ARE OTHER BILLS LAWMAKERS ARE WORKING ON, INCLUDING ONE THAT WOULD CREATE A NEW $16 MILLION GRANT PROGRAM THAT WOULD GO TO PRESCHOOL PROVIDERS AND CHILD CARE CENTERS THAT WORK TO PROVIDE ALL DAY CARE.
