Coldplay's Chris Martin surprises fans with concert tickets after chance encounter
Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin surprised two fans with concert tickets after a chance encounter on State Street in Madison, Wisconsin.
Carolina Oliveira and Sarah Vieire, students at Madison Technical College, had hoped to meet the international superstar while out the night before the concert
"I kept calling him like, 'Oh yeah, for sure. Oh, Chris Martin.' Then, he stopped and turned around," Oliveira said, describing the moment they realized they were face-to-face with the Coldplay front man.
The pair managed to keep their cool during the encounter, even snapping a picture to prove it.
Martin is seen in the photo sporting a black cap while going for a walk around the State Capitol.
The students told sister station 12 News. Blake Eason Martin asked if they had tickets to the concert, and when they revealed they didn't, he offered to help.
"I didn't have extra, so he was like, 'Give me your email. We're going to figure it out, '" Oliveira said.
True to his word, the next night, the friends arrived at the concert to find a special envelope at the box office labeled "Guest of Chris," containing tickets to the show.
During the concert, Martin gave a special shoutout to the pair, although he humorously admitted he didn't quite remember their names correctly.
"About 1:30 in the morning last night, I met a girl called Carolina Oliveira and her friends Susan, maybe — I can't remember," Martin said from the stage in front of a sold-out crowd at Camp Randall.
Reflecting on the experience, Oliveira expressed gratitude for Martin's generosity and the unforgettable shoutout.
"I'm just going to say we made it," Oliveira said. "We made it a good story to go viral, and I hope he's happy with everything and that we are so, so, so thankful for like his help and the shoutout, like I would never in a million years believe that would happen."
