Democratic candidate for Iowa governor Rob Sand is hitting the road for a statewide tour that will take him to every corner of Iowa.

In an exclusive interview with vlog, Sand announced his "100 Town Hall Tour," pledging to hold events in all 99 counties plus a second stop in Lee County, home to two county seats.

The tour kicks off Wednesday, June 25, with events in Waukee and Ankeny, and will wrap up in October in Winneshiek County. Sand said the tour is meant to give Iowans a direct line to his campaign and set a new standard for accessibility.

"I think that doing this as a campaign this year and next year gives people an ability to understand, No. 1, that I actually care about what they think, that I actually want them to come to an event as opposed to sort of sneaking in and sneaking out again," Sand said.

He also said the town halls will be public and open to Iowans of all political backgrounds.

"This is not going to be an event that's just for people in my party. I want everybody to be there," Sand added. "We're advertising all of them all at the same time because we want people to show up no matter who they are, as long as they're Iowans."
