But to get to Riverview those families have to drive through an older warehouse district along 6th ave. the city calls partially blighted and underused. Now that's about to change and parents we spoke with are excited about the improvements. <It's definitely attracted me to make more use of the space and the area. So the more improvement that it gives, I believe that the more families and more community that will be in this share the same area here.> Monday night the city council approved a new Urban Renewal area around Riverview park. The idea is to give the new life to 59 acres and more than 100 homes and businesses. That includes tax incentives and other perks to attract new development and help current businesses modernize. The says it all starts with a spark...like riverview park. <So you get a project like Riverview Park that's kind of your catalyst. A spark ignites, the cold storage redevelopment. And now we think we can we can blossom this to the, to the greater neighborhood. > The Neighborhood Development Corporation recently unveiled plans to replace an old cold storage wear house with a new 7 million dollar row house project. 36 town homes would overlook riverview lake. City council leaders call it a much needed boost for the neighborhood. <It's a destination where people want to come. They want to work in the area. They want to play in the area.> <It may be several years before the plans are finalized and developed.
