Des Moines Concours d’Elegance celebrates 25 years of showcasing classic cars for a cause

The Des Moines Concours d’Elegance will display classic cars and offer family-friendly activities in Downtown Des Moines, with donations benefiting Children’s Cancer Connection.
The Des Moines Concours d’Elegance, featuring more than 120 classic cars and family-friendly activities, will once again benefit Children’s Cancer Connection.
It takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park.
There will be food vendors and merchandise for sale and games for all ages.
In addition to the classic cars, there will be a Ranger aircraft engine, a Ranger-equipped sprint car, mini engines, hobby RC Cars, Des Moines Soapbox Derby and LEGO displays.
The event will also showcase a Boss Hoss Trike owned by motorcycle and car enthusiast Gene West, a cancer victim.
The Concours is free to attend, but donations are encouraged, with proceeds benefiting Children’s Cancer Connection. The event draws around 20,000 people every year and has raised more than $165,000 for the charity in its 25 years.
