8:00 a.m. Update: A crash is creating a major slowdown from the East Mixmaster into Downtown. What is usually a 5 minute commute is up to 15 minutes after a crash was reported in the westbound lanes of I-235 near Guthrie Avenue. First responder are on scene and commuters should expect a significant delay in travel times.
7:30 a.m. Update: Another crash is being reported in the westbound lanes of IA 5 in West Des Moines. The left shoulder is blocked near 105th Street. Emergency vehicles are on scene. Traffic is backing up all the way past the Southwest Connector and dense fog remains a problem in this area so proceed with caution.
Dense fog is creating a major lack of visibility on roads across Central Iowa. Drivers should be prepared to have low beams on, drive slower, maintain distance and factor extra time into the morning commute.
A crash is being reported in Marshalltown on Iowa Highway 14 just past 150th Street. It's impacting both directions of travel. Drivers are advised to look out for that incident.
