AS YOU CAN SEE, THE INTERSTATE IS BACK OPEN AND THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE SHOOTING IS UNDERWAY. SHOOTING. AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THOSE ARE THE VOICES OF DEPUTIES AND OFFICERS WHO RESPONDED TO A TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION ALONG INTERSTATE 80 OVERNIGHT. AFTER ARRIVING ON THE SCENE, THEY SAY A SUSPECT STARTED SHOOTING THE MALES ACTIVELY SHOOTING AT HER. THE DALLAS COUNTY SHERIFF SAYS THE SUSPECT WAS NOT PROVOKED BEFORE FIRING MULTIPLE SHOTS. A SHORT TIME LATER, HELP ARRIVED FROM SEVERAL OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN THE AREA. DEPUTIES SAY THE SUSPECT BEGAN FIRING AGAIN. THAT’S WHEN THEY RETURNED FIRE AND STRUCK THE SUSPECT. Authorities say a suspect is dead after a gunfire exchange with law enforcement during an investigation along Interstate 80 that led to an hourslong shutdown.At around 1:34 a.m. Tuesday, law enforcement from multiple agencies including the Dallas County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol were called to investigate a traffic complaint near the 104 mile marker of Interstate 80 near Earlham.The Dallas County Sheriff's Office says the suspect fired multiple shots at law enforcement "without provocation."
