Right now -- Des Moines area pools are preparing for extra people to come cool off this weekend... as the heat index reaches dangerous levels. Holiday Aquatic Center in West Des Moines is open for business. West Des Moines Parks and Rec says managers will be checking on lifeguards and swimmers as temperatures rise. They're reminding everyone to drink lots of water and reapply sunscreen regularly. < "I would say last Wednesday when we had the last heat wave, we had our busiest day in my seven years here. So, we're excited for it. We're ready for it. We act like it's always going to be 95 degrees out there. We don't really usually kind of taper it up or build up for it. We're always at our max.
