7:30 a.m. Update: Drivers heading toward Des Moines from the Huxley area are experiencing about a ten minute delay in travel. A high profile vehicle is stalled in the right lane, creating a lane reduction and slowing traffic. Emergency responders are on the scene. Another crash, closer to the metro continues to block the eastbound lanes of 35/80 just before the East Mixmaster. That crash is not causing any delay in travel time.
Multiple crashes are being reported as drivers deal with wet roads. DMPD is responding to a crash downtown at I-235 at 28th Street to a single vehicle crashed into the median. The interior westbound lanes are blocked as emergency vehicles respond.
Another crash is blocking the westbound right shoulder at the SW Connector along IA 5. Emergency responders are also on scene there.
Drivers are encouraged to drive with cautions as chances of hydroplaning are possible on the slippery pavement.
Drivers that take the Saylorville Bridge as part of their daily commute will have to find alternate routes for the time being. Construction on a roundabout is underway at the NW Beaver Drive and Iowa 415 intersection. In the meantime, .
