THE WOMAN. IT’S NOT SOMEPLACE THAT I WOULD EVER IMAGINE FINDING SOMEBODY. AND IT’S ALL UPHILL. YOU KNOW, IT’S THROUGHOWN THAT K GUESS. THE LARGE L-SHAPED BUILDING RIGHT THERE. AUTHORITIES SAY CROSBY WALKED OUT OF THE SKYLINE PLACE SENIOR LIVING FACILITY WITH HER DOG FRIDAY NIGHT. IT’S A MORE THAN 50 MINUTE WALK FROM WHERE CHRISTOPHER SPOTTED PONCHO. KNOWING THAT THAT DOG WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MISSING PERSON IS WHY WE STOPPED. SO I THINK THAT, YOU KNOW, THOSE THOSE EMERGENCY ALERTS ARE ARE ARE WHAT REALLY SAVED HER LIFE. CHRISTOPHER PULLED OVER AND FOLLOWED THE DOG. THE DOG ACTUALLY WENT DOWN. THE EMBANKMENT NEXT TO THE ROAD. SO I FOLLOWED IT. YOU REALLY HAVE TO ALMOST GRAPPLE YOUR WAY DOWN ON ALL FOURS, BECAUSE IT’S PRETTY STEEP AND IT’S IT’S HEAVY BRUSH. I FIGURED THE DOG’S RIGHT THERE, SO SHE’S GOT TO BE HERE SOMEWHERE. CHRISTOPHER CALLED 911, AND WITHIN MINUTES, DEPUTIES AND RESCUE CREWS ARRIVED. SHE WAS SLEEPING. PONCHO. CROSBY WAS SAVED THANKS TO A FAMILY THAT DIDN’T IGNORE A STRAY DOG. AND A DOG THAT DIDN’T LEAVE HER SIDE WHEN THEY WERE LOADING BARBARA INTO THE AMBULANCE. PONCHO TOOK OFF AGAIN, AND NEIGHBORS HAVE BEEN OUT SEARCHING FOR PONCHO. THEY SAY THE LAST TIME THEY SAW HIM IN THE AREA WAS THIS MORNING. THEY’VE BEEN COMING BACK TO THE SPOT WHERE SHE WAS FOUND, LEAVING FOOD AND WATER IN CASE HE COMES BACK. THE COMMUNITY ISN’T GIVING UP HOPE AND HOPE. PONCHO AND HIS OWNER ARE REUNITED SOON. THE COMMUNITY RESPONSE. WAS GREAT TO SEE ALL THE VOLUNTEERS SHOWING UP FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE IN SONORA, CAROLINA ESTRADA. KCRA 3 NEWS AGAIN, CROSBY IS SAFE, BUT PONCHO IS STILL OUT THERE. That same night, around 9 p.m., Poncho was spotted by Brett Christopher, who was driving back home after a family dinner in Sonora. "That dog being tied to the missing person is why we stopped," said Christopher. "Honestly, those emergency alerts are what really saved her life."Deputies and search crews responded to the area near East Bald Mountain Road, where the dog was last seen. Officials said rescuers hiked 70 feet down an embankment and found Poncho under some brush. "You really have to almost grapple your way down on all fours because it's steep and heavy brush," said Christopher.A short distance away, the missing woman was found asleep. The sheriff's office said the rescue team used a basket stretcher and rope system to pull the missing woman back to safety. However, Poncho ran off before he could be safely secured and could still be in the area. Neighbors tell sister station KCRA they spotted Poncho on Monday, but no one has been able to catch him. Their hope is that Poncho and his recovering owner can be reunited soon.
