Dunkin' devotee surprised on his 95th birthday
Through the terms of seven U.S. presidents, one devoted customer has walked about a mile to his preferred Dunkin' in Massachusetts for his morning coffee and a donut.
Fred Brown, known by many as Uncle Fred, has been taking that walk for about 40 years.
"When I got out of the Air Force, I got married and moved to Lynn because my wife worked at General Electric and we've been here ever since," he said.
When it was time to buy his donut on Thursday, Brown walked to his favored location, where a surprise was waiting for him.
Store manager Daniella Kraus and the rest of the team knew it was Brown's 95th birthday. They had the Dunkin' mascot greet him at the door of the restaurant and then they led Brown to a table that was set aside for him.
On the table was a box of a dozen donuts, some with Brown's photo printed on them, and a box of 95 gift cards — one for each year of his life.
"Oh my God," Brown said, looking at the stack of gift cards. "I'm rich."
