MONDAY, HE FOUND THE EAGLE SCOUT MONUMENT, SPRAY PAINTED IN SWASTIKAS AND OBSCENE GRAFFITI. WE’VE BLURRED MOST OF THE IMAGES. IT’S TROUBLESOME, YOU KNOW. I MEAN, IN TODAY’S WORLD, WE SHOULD BE PAST ALL OF THAT. IN MY OPINION. BUT SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN’T LET GO OF THE PAST. POLICE POSTED THESE PICTURES ON SOCIAL MEDIA MONDAY. THEY SAY IT HAPPENED LATE SUNDAY NIGHT. IT’S UPSETTING. I MEAN, IT IS A REALLY NICE COMMUNITY AND FOR PEOPLE TO DO THAT, YOU KNOW, THE EAGLE SCOUTS WORK HARD TO PUT THAT TOGETHER. THOSE PROJECTS, YOU KNOW, AND THEN FOR SOMEBODY TO COME AND DO THAT, THAT’S PRETTY SAD. VANDALS ALSO TARGETED GREENWOOD PARK NEAR THE FAIRGROUNDS. POLICE SAY THEY HOPE SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE WILL HELP THEM FIND THE VANDALS. WE’RE NOT GOING TO TOLERATE THIS IN THIS TOWN, YOU KNOW, SO WE WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF IT AND FIND OUT WHO IT IS. Police in Eagle Grove are investigating graffiti vandalism at Fishpond Park and Greenwood Park, where swastikas and obscene graffiti were discovered Monday morning.Alan Asche, who lives next to Fishpond Park, said, "I've lived here all my life, so I've never seen anything like this. You know, it's just wrong."Cindy Shute, another resident of Eagle Grove, said, "It's just troublesome, you know? I mean, in today's world, we should be past all of that, in my opinion. But some people just can't let go of the past."Police Chief Ray Beltran said, "It's upsetting. And, you know, it is a really nice community. And for people to do that, you know, the Eagle Scouts work hard, to put that together, those projects, you know, and then for somebody to come and do that, that's pretty sad."Vandals also targeted Greenwood Park near the fairgrounds. Police hope security camera footage will help them find the vandals. Beltran said, "We're not going to tolerate this in this town, you know.
