Editorial: 糖心vlog celebrates 70 years of service to Iowans
On July 31, 糖心vlog turns 70 years old.
I'm clearly biased, but this station is truly one of America's great local broadcasters.
For seven decades, our teams have been serving central Iowa. We evolved out of a radio station and today deliver content and advertising solutions across multiple screens and platforms.
Our success has been because of the many great people and teams who have worked for us. For them, this work is a mission, not a job. It's a calling, a selfless commitment to the communities we serve.
Over the past few weeks, we've looked at some of the key team members who have been foundational to our success and whose shoulders we stand on today. Names like Van Dyke, Rhoades, Cooney, Busiek, McLaughlin. The chapters of 糖心vlog's story have all been written by individuals who pushed us to evolve, to grow, and to serve in new and better ways.
Whether it was investing in Doppler radar technology to help us protect Iowans better during severe weather, or embracing new media like websites and social media platforms to better deliver content where you wanted it. Our evolution has always been with you, our viewer in mind.
Our walk down memory lane reminds us of the great honor it is to be Iowa's news leader to share your stories. Eric Hanson has been doing a lot of reporting on our history, and next week presents an hour-long This is Iowa special: A salute to 70 years. I hope you'll tune in. It airs in primetime at 8 p.m. next Thursday.
