Ember Recovery Campus opens to support Iowa's youth
Ember Recovery Campus held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its opening on Thursday, marking a significant advancement in Iowa’s youth mental health resources.
The facility, a $30 million project by YSS (Youth Service Society) near Cambridge, is designed to provide substance abuse and mental health treatment for ages 12-24.
The 53-acre property accommodates up to 70 patients, offering trauma-informed, nature-based treatment. Gov. Kim Reynolds called it Iowa's largest investment in children's behavioral health.
"From a governor who will celebrate 25 years of recovery this year, I can't tell you how important facilities like this are," Reynolds said.
Attendees highlighted personal recovery stories and praised YSS leadership. The campus is now operating, focusing on saving lives and impacting families statewide.
