A bill that restricts the use of eminent domain for carbon pipelines in Iowa is advancing at the Statehouse.Part of that requires a company to get 90% of land owners in an area to agree before using eminent domain to take private land.It now goes to the Senate. One group at the Statehouse said they wanted lawmakers to stand up for landowners. The bill also allows farmers to ask for compensation if their crop yields suffer due to the construction of a pipeline. Before the bill passed the House, Summit Carbon Solutions, one of the three companies trying to construct a pipeline through Iowa, released a statement saying its team will continue to meet with lawmakers on its effort to build the pipeline.
