Calhoun County woman charged with endangerment after baby suffers skull fracture, stroke and seizures
A Calhoun County woman is accused of not giving her newborn baby proper food and health care for months.
Emma Swanson is charged with child endangerment.
According to court records, in 2024 her baby experienced seizures, was underweight and diagnosed with failure to thrive. Swanson allegedly took a video of one of the seizures, but did not seek medical care.
In September 2024, police say the baby suffered bruising and swelling to his groin area.
A month later, officials say Swanson intentionally struck the baby, causing a skull fracture and stroke.
According to the affidavit, Swanson allegedly posted on social media, blaming the baby's injuries on medical malpractice.
Swanson is charged with child endangerment - multiple acts, a class B felony, and willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony.
Swanson has pleaded not guilty. She is being held on a $35,000 bond, but is asking for a bond review hearing. That hearing is set for Monday.
