Monday is move-out day at the Iowa State Fair as vendors pack up and semi-trucks load out. Over the Top ice cream, stationed on Grand Avenue this year, thrived amid record-breaking crowds, particularly on the first Saturday of the fair. "We had a lot of traffic, and we enjoyed it," said Natalie Carroll. The first Saturday saw the most visitors in a single day in state fair history.ISF CEO Jeremy Parsons noted the record-setting 1.18 million attendees and emphasized the importance of decongesting high-traffic areas."When you get the weather that we had, obviously, that provides that incentive to make sure everybody gets out here to the fair. And obviously they did," he said.Efforts to spread fairgoers included introducing the Bubbly Bar and Bistro, drawing crowds to the top of the hill and having all three top food vendors near the craft beer tent in the southwest corner.» See all of our Iowa State Fair coverage here."It was a really enjoyable experience for our first year out here with the food trailer," said Kurt Mumm, co-owner of Destination Grille, which made their fair debut, selling thousands of lobster corn dogs. Having winners Winn and Sara's Kitchen, Whatcha Smokin', and the Craft Beer Tent nearby boosted sales. 2024 Iowa State Fair Grandstand attendanceJelly Roll's concert was the only sold-out Grandstand show this year, with 16,001 people attending.
