Fort Dodge grads lead Iowa to Cy-Hawk softball win
Iowa got a little Cy-Hawk revenge Tuesday in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes blanked Iowa State 5-0 to avenge a loss to the Cyclones two weeks earlier in Ames.
This time, the Hawkeyes never gave the Cyclones a chance.
Junior Jalen Adams (23-5) was lights out in the circle for the Hawkeyes. Throwing her 18th complete game of the season, the Fort Dodge grad allowed no runs on two hits and struck out seven Cyclone hitters. Fellow Dodger Tory Bennett added an RBI single. Sophomore Jaylee Ojo delivered the big hit for Iowa with a pinch-hit grand slam in the sixth inning.
"I feel like this was pretty big for me," Adams said. "My goal is just to get a good pitch across, and the result will be whatever it is. It was pretty cool. I was really happy for my team."
Iowa finished the game with five runs on five hits. Iowa State had no runs on two hits.
