Fraudsters use fake invoices to try to scam you out of money
Scammers pay close attention to what you are watching in the news and they are trying to use rising inflation to rip you off.
As we all struggle to make ends meet, the last thing anyone wants to hear right now is that they're being charged hundreds of dollars for something they didn't order.
Another version of an invoice scam claiming you have been charged $300 for computer virus protection.
If you respond to stop the charges, the scammer tries to talk their way into your computer. They claim computer access is necessary to refund your money, but you end up losing thousands.
Another fake invoice tells a consumer that her membership in the American Airlines Admiral Club has been renewed at a cost of $500.
If you respond to them and the person on the other end is looking to get into your computer and your bank account, hang up. It's a scam.
