BEN. ALL RIGHT. KAYLA. THANK YOU. GOVERNOR REYNOLDS IS WEIGHING IN ON A POSSIBLE POLICY REGARDING DEPORTATION OF UNDOCUMENTED FARM WORKERS. IT COMES AFTER PRESIDENT TRUMP’S COMMENTS DURING HIS AMERICA 250 APPEARANCE AT THE IOWA STATE FAIRGROUNDS LAST WEEK. IF A FARMER IS WILLING TO VOUCH FOR THESE PEOPLE IN SOME WAY, CHRISTIE, I THINK WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO JUST SAY THAT’S GOING TO BE GOOD, RIGHT? YOU KNOW, WE’RE GOING TO BE WE’RE GOING TO BE GOOD WITH IT BECAUSE WE DON’T WANT TO DO IT WHERE WE TAKE ALL OF THE WORKERS OFF THE FARMS. THE PRESIDENT WAS TALKING TO HHS SECRETARY KRISTI NOEM, THEIR U.S. AG SECRETARY, BROOKE ROLLINS, SAID TUESDAY THAT THERE WILL BE NO AMNESTY FOR MIGRANTS. ROLLINS SUGGESTS THAT THERE ARE, QUOTE, 34 MILLION ABLE BODIED ADULTS IN OUR MEDICAID PROGRAM THAT COULD REPLACE UNDOCUMENTED FARM WORKERS. GOVERNOR REYNOLDS WAS ASKED TODAY WHAT SHE WOULD LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN. WE WOULD LIKE TO BE A PART OF THE DISCUSSION IF WE CAN. SO I’VE HAD MY CHIEF OF STAFF REACH OUT TO USDA AND JUST LET THEM KNOW. THIS IS A REALLY IMPORTANT ISSUE FOR IOWA AGRICULTURE, AND WE’D LIKE TO BE A PART OF IT. AND TO CORRECT MYSELF. NOEM IS THE SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY.
