IT’S CAUGHT THE ATTENTION OF THOSE IN OUR NATION’S CAPITAL. AND NOW THE PERFORMANCE IS ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA. WVTM 13 CHIP SCARBOROUGH JOINING US LIVE AS YOU ADDRESS THE HIGH SCHOOL TONIGHT WITH REACTION FROM THOSE IN THAT VERY VIDEO. CHIP. WELL, AND THAT VIDEO ALREADY HAD MORE THAN 40,000 VIEWS ON FACEBOOK. AT LAST CHECK. SO THE CHOIR MEMBERS HERE AT THE SCHOOL TELL ME THEY DECIDED LAST SECOND TO START SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT THE THOMAS JEFFERSON MEMORIAL. AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS COMING NEXT. OH, THEY SEE BY THE ON. SEVEN MEMBERS OF THE HEWITT TRUSSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR GATHERED IN THE SCHOOL’S FRONT LOBBY ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON TO PERFORM THE NATIONAL ANTHEM FOR US. AND PERSON. JUST THREE DAYS AFTER AN IMPROMPTU SINGING OF THE ANTHEM AT THE THOMAS JEFFERSON MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON, D.C., I HAD A BLAST. I LOVE SINGING. I LOVE BEING A PART OF THE CHOIR. AND IT WAS REALLY INCREDIBLE TO SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM. THE CHOIR WAS IN D.C. TO PERFORM IN THE NATIONAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL PARADE ON SATURDAY MORNING. LATER THAT DAY, THEY DECIDED TO TOUR THE THOMAS JEFFERSON MEMORIAL, WHEN SUDDENLY THEY STOPPED AND STARTED SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM. IT WAS REALLY SPONTANEOUS AND THE FACT THAT I DON’T KNOW IT REALLY JUST HIT ME. WE WERE IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL. THEY WERE JUST SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM. I JUST WENT SILENT. IT JUST REALLY MEANT A LOT TO ME THAT, LIKE, EVERYBODY IS LISTENING AND, YOU KNOW, IN THIS TIME OF LIKE JUST AFTER COVID POST-PANDEMIC, EVERYBODY IS GETTING BACK UP AND BACK ON THEIR FEET. YOU KNOW, IT GIVES US A LITTLE HOPE. SIX OF THE SEVEN STUDENTS WE SPOKE WITH ARE SENIORS AND WILL BE GRADUATING IN JUST A FEW SHORT WEEKS. THEY SAY THIS MEMORY WILL STAY WITH THEM FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. IT WAS TRULY AN HONOR TO JUST BE STANDING UNDER JEFFERSON’S STATUE AND SINGING ABOUT WHAT OUR COUNTRY BELIEVES IN AND THAT IS FREEDOM OVERALL AND ONLY ONE OF THE STUDENTS WE SPOKE TO THIS AFTERNOON IS NOT A SENIOR. SHE’S IN FACT, A FRESHMAN. COMING UP, ALL NEW AT 630, YOU’RE GOING TO HEAR FROM HER ABOUT WHY IT’S GOING TO BE TOUGH TO TOP THIS EXPERIENCE GOING FORWARD. FOR NO
