Kyle Larsen's story begins on a farm in Humboldt County, where his grandfather set down roots after immigrating to Iowa. Growing up surrounded by rows of corn and a commitment to farming, Larsen earned a degree from Iowa State University and returned home to pursue his passion for agriculture. Today, he runs his own farm, living nearby with his wife and two daughters.
But Larsen’s connection to farming isn’t the only thing driving him. He said he's grown frustrated with Washington politicians and what he calls inaction on critical issues, like the five-year farm bill.
“The last farm bill hasn’t been touched since pre-COVID,” Larsen said.
Now, he is stepping up to run for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, seeking a seat at the table for rural Iowans.
“District Four needs an honest voice that cares about Iowa agriculture and rural Iowa every day and every night,” Larsen said. “Not just someone that thinks about it or says it to get the vote.”
Larsen believes the district’s representative should understand the unique challenges and successes of farming, noting the significance of agriculture in Iowa's 4th Congressional District.
“We are number one in farmers in the district, in the whole U.S., and all congressional districts,” he said. “We produce the most corn, the most soybeans, the most pigs [and] the most eggs.”
If elected, Larsen said he plans to focus on eliminating the estate tax, expanding rural manufacturing, and supporting President Donald Trump’s America First agenda. Trade, in particular, is at the forefront of his priorities.
“One of my priorities is helping Donald Trump with trade, because Iowa produces so many goods that get shipped around the world,” Larsen said. “There’s a common saying that Iowa farmers feed the world, and that is very real.”
Larsen said his campaign aims to give Iowa farmers and rural communities a stronger voice in Congress, ensuring their concerns are heard and addressed on a national stage.
