While we're in the process of rebooting every single thing that has been mildly successful in the last few decades of pop culture, we might as well make significant, progressive changes to the original product. Ghostbusters is far more interesting with all women, and it's far more exciting to see a new Ocean's movie with an entirely female cast.So when it comes time for Steven Spielberg's inevitable reboot of Indiana Jones, of which there have been four movies and counting), we might as well switch things up! In an interview with The Sun, Spielberg appeared to hint that he'd be interested in casting a woman as Indiana Jones:He believes it is time the explorer took “a different form” ... Spielberg nodded when asked if this new-look Jones could be female, and added: “We’d have to change the name from Jones to Joan. And there would be nothing wrong with that.”While this would be a fresh take on the franchise, Spielberg is wrong about one thing: Jones is the character's last name. So why would it be changed from Jones to Joan? Certainly a woman can still have the first and last name Indiana. If you're going to do this, Spielberg, do it right.
