Rossen Reports: New Instagram parental controls now available
Parents can now monitor their kids' Instagram accounts with the new parental control tool — by seeing how much time their kids are spending on the app each day and limit that time.
Once the time limit is reached – boom, you're out! It kicks the kids off for the day. Parents can also see who their child is following and who is following them.
But you can't see things like the messages and you can't actually control the account. The tool is for parents of kids between the ages of 13 and 17.
In order to set this up – your child needs to come up here to the three bars on their profile and tap Settings.
Then click on "Supervision" and request you as a supervisor. That'll go over well. Then you'll get a link – either email or text.
Once that gets sent to you – you can accept and start monitoring.
