On Wednesday, the Adel Police Department provided an update on their investigation of the death of a high school freshman.Police say 14-year-old Caelen Peterson died by suicide on Feb. 8. Friends say Caelan was relentlessly bullied before he took his life. After his death, more than 100 people packed an Adel DeSoto Minburn school board meeting calling for an end to bullying.Police say that through their interviews of friends and classmates of Caelan, they have learned that he said he was being "extorted by an unknown person on social media."Officers have provided evidence to the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for examination.If you or anyone you know has information that pertains to the investigation, please contact Adel police at 515-993-6723.
