Iowa Board of Regents approves CyTown agreement
The Iowa Board of Regents approved the terms of a 30-year agreement Wednesday to move forward with the CyTown project in Ames.
It's a three-party agreement between Iowa State University, ISU Research Park and Goldenrod Companies. It creates a CyTown management committee, which will have authority to direct Goldenrod and the Research Park on all aspects of the development.
Goldenrod will finance all construction and build eight structures including a common area. It will house office and retail space, restaurants, bars, an outdoor music venue and a hotel.
"The estimated cost of construction of the facilities is between $175 million and $225 million," said Michael Norton, general counsel for Iowa State.
Now that the agreement has been approved, preliminary construction for development is scheduled to begin this spring.
