Cade McNamara's 2 touchdown passes pace Iowa in 24-14 win over Utah State

Cade McNamara's 2 touchdown passes pace Iowa in 24-14 win over Utah State
Is finally over college football in the state of Iowa has returned *** full slate coming your way. Iowa hosting Utah State at Kneck. We have *** report coming up after *** long off season, Iowa State can finally focus on what's going on on the field as opposed to off it. And let's talk about the big national game TCU in Colorado, the coach prime era in full swing. Welcome in everybody. Jeff Dubroff with you as yesterday *** day of happiness, college football back with it renewed hope. Lots to get to what we start in Iowa City, *** new quarterback, new receivers because the Iowa offense produce new results. *** familiar sight. The swarm before the game. It's Kay mcnamara leading the crew out and it didn't take long for the new quarterback from Michigan to prove his worth. Second play from scrimmage is *** 36 yard touchdown to Seth Anderson. It is the first time since 1991 that the opening drive of the Iowa season resulted in *** passing touchdown, 32 years, very next drive fourth and goal. Kirk Fence says let's go for mcnamara to Eric all two touchdown passes in the first two drives for context. It took until week five of last year to have two touchdown passes for the Iowa Hawkeyes defense was superb as well. Utah State throwing over the middle and it's Xavier Wapa dating back to that music City bowl. He's had *** pick in back to back games. They would lead 17 3 at *** half. Fans. Excited good dance moves. Second half at 17, 16 in the fourth quarter, Caleb Johnson getting in on the fun. He had 19 carries, 63 yards in that touchdown there. Iowa had the 24 6 lead. Utah State would get *** touchdown in garbage time to make it 24 14. But that would be the final Iowa wins the game, some things to like but *** lot to clean up. But as I mentioned, the focus was on the offense all off season for more on that. Let's send it over to Shannon Iowa came out against Utah State looking like they had some sort of offensive firepower. Not all bad. Right. Kate mcnamara took just two plays in 33 seconds to find Seth Anderson on *** 36 yard pass in the end zone. The second drive of the game, Eric kept off an 11 place 75 yard drive and in about five minutes, the offense smacked 14 on the board for reference in 2022 the offense 14.9 points *** game but consistency still *** problem Coach Brian Fence's offense went cold until the fourth quarter. So much so that Utah state outgained Iowa by 45 yards. The numbers forget 329 to 284. The Hawks averaged 2.4 yards per rush, which got them to an underwhelming 88 total yards. So where was the pass protection? We weren't perfect in any aspect of the game today. So we're gonna go watch the film tomorrow and see what we need to work on. I might make an excuse. It was *** little bit of *** tough preparation with the coordinator had, had ***, you know, it's been *** couple of other schools and, uh, watching last year's Utah State film in *** nutshell was not really going to be beneficial to the pass blocking looked improved, which did help Iowa's air attack. Coach Brian hammered the two tight end set so hard that at times we saw four on the field at once. Luke Leche and Eric all had 13 targets for *** combined nine receptions in 88 yards. Vines I was like, come on, Deonte, look at this and get all the receivers out and put all the tight ends in. It's great, you know, I just think that, I mean, it's so awesome. She bailed out the offense on back to back third down conversions which set up the insurance touchdown in the fourth quarter. You know, it's just like any quarterback you just want to go out there and be *** security guy for *** quarterback as *** tight end. That's what you want to do with all that being said, there's no automatics in week one of college football, but I'd say that Iowa fans can exhale because there is life to this offense. They just need to build up *** little endurance from kick stadium. I'm Shannon EKC Iowa sports leader.
