Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signs pair of election-related bills into law
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has signed into law two bills related to elections.
Reynolds signed and Monday.
House File 928 impacts election recounts. The law clarifies procedures for recounts, including specifying what day each election should be canvassed.
House File 954 includes stricter requirements for verification during the voter registration process. It also bans ranked-choice or instant runoff voting across Iowa.
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate released a statement praising the legislation.
"I commend the Iowa Legislature and Governor Reynolds for recognizing the importance of these bills in strengthening and maintaining Iowa’s election integrity," Pate said in a news release. "These new laws add additional layers of integrity to our robust election procedures, supporting our efforts to balance election integrity and voter participation."
