The Rams, who have won every Class 5A football championship (3), enter the season on a 22-game winning streak. SEP handed Valley season-opening and season-closing losses last year. The Rams beat the Tigers 24-18 in Week 1, and Valley lost five of its first six games. Valley then went on a five-game winning streak before losing to SEP in the semifinals, 30-27 in overtime.Sports reporter Jeff Dubrof will be in Ankeny for the cross-town rivalry between Ankeny and Centennial. The Hawks finished last season 9-4, including two wins against Centennial, and lost to SEP in the title game. Perry-Hoover game suspended due to weather ThursdayThe Perry-Des Moines Hoover football game Thursday was suspended in the second quarter due to storms that blew through the area. The game resumed Friday afternoon with Perry leading 28-21 late in the second quarter. Perry finished off the game with a 35-21 win.
