Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. at Comet Field in Alleman.Both teams opened the season last week with wins. North Polk beat Lewis Central, 27-24. And Newton beat Carlisle, 49-42. Senior James Armstrong led the Comets with 279 yards passing and 2 touchdowns, and added 67 yards on the ground with another score. Senior Bryce Burke had 3 catches for 102 yards. For Newton, senior Caden Klein threw for 399 yards and 5 touchdowns against Carlisle and ran for another 21 yards and a touchdown. Junior Isaiah Hansen ran 17 times for 140 yards and a score. Iowa high school cancels remaining varsity football schedule after just one game
A private high school in northwest Iowa has canceled the rest of its varsity football games after just one week.
Siouxland Christian School in Sioux City opened the 8-player season last Friday at Coon Rapids-Bayard. The Crusaders went up 60-0 in the first half and the Eagles forfeited at halftime.

Our Week 2 game of the week is Newton at defending Class 4A state champion North Polk. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. at Comet Field in Alleman.
Both teams opened the season last week with wins. North Polk beat Lewis Central, 27-24. And Newton beat Carlisle, 49-42.
Senior James Armstrong led the Comets with 279 yards passing and 2 touchdowns, and added 67 yards on the ground with another score. Senior Bryce Burke had 3 catches for 102 yards.
For Newton, senior Caden Klein threw for 399 yards and 5 touchdowns against Carlisle and ran for another 21 yards and a touchdown. Junior Isaiah Hansen ran 17 times for 140 yards and a score. Senior Finn Martin caught 6 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns, and junior Qhjuan Coley had 4 catches for 143 yards and 2 scores.
