From the archives: Iowa man reunited with wallet he lost in 1944
Editor's note: This story was first published on vlog in 2016. The Sloans have since sold the theater.
Larry Sloan and his wife moved to Nevada and bought the Talent Factory Theater because they love its rich history. They transformed the former movie theater into a live performance comedy club.
Sloan and his staff never thought they would find a piece of history inside.
They found an old wallet lodged in floorboards on the third floor while working on renovations.
“It was plastic, so the first thing that came to my mind is this must be a child’s wallet,” said Sloan. “I had no idea how old it would be.”
A pocket calendar in the wallet revealed that the wallet had been lost in 1944. The wallet also held ration stamps, a Boy Scout card, faded photos and an ID revealing its owner: Clare McIntosh.
Sloan was able to track down McIntosh, 85 at the time, and return the wallet after more than 70 years.
Watch the video above to see the moment Sloan gave McIntosh back his wallet.
