THIRD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT. REPUBLICAN ZACH NUNN IS FIGHTING TO FLIP. IOWA’S ONLY BLUE SEAT ON CAPITOL HILL. I’VE BEEN PRIVILEGED TO SERVE BOTH ON THE BATTLEFIELD FOR MY FELLOW CITIZENS UP AT THE STATE HOUSE, LEADING GOOD LEGISLATION. AND NOW WE’RE ASKING FOR THE HONOR OF EARNING IOWANS VOTE TO BE THERE FOR SERVING IN WASHINGTON, D.C.. HE SAYS HE WANTS TO TAKE IOWA’S STATEHOUSE SOLUTIONS TO WASHINGTON FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY. TAX CUTS THAT ACTUALLY GROW COMMUNITIES. SUPPORT TO OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT. A SECURE SOUTHERN BORDER THAT HELPS AMERICA BE SAFE AND NOT DRUG DEPENDENT. WE’LL ALSO AN ONRAMP FOR FOLKS WHO WANT TO COME HERE AND WORK LEGALLY. AFTER THE SUPREME COURT OVERTURNED ROE V WADE, ABORTION ACCESS HAS PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN THE RACE FOR IOWA’S THIRD DISTRICT. NONE POINTS TO HIS VOTING RECORD, ARGUING HE’S A PRO-LIFE CANDIDATE THAT’S ALWAYS FOUGHT FOR THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER AND BABY. I VOTED TWICE FOR HEALTH OF THE MOTHER, WITH EXCEPTION FOR LATE TERM PREGNANCY, AND THEN ALSO LOOKING AT EXCEPTIONS FOR RAPE, INCEST AND FETAL VIABILITY, MEANING THE CHILD WAS NO LONGER GOING TO BE ABLE TO SURVIVE. BUT HIS OPPONENT, DEMOCRAT CINDY AXNE, HAS LAUNCHED SEVERAL ADS THAT SHOW NONE IN A PRIMARY DEBATE, RAISING HIS HAND TO INDICATE HE DOES NOT SUPPORT THOSE EXCEPTIONS. IN THAT CLIP, WHEN YOU WERE ASKED ALL ABORTIONS, SHOULD ALL ABORTIONS BE ILLEGAL, NO EXCEPTIONS, YOU RAISE YOUR HAND. WHY DID YOU RAISE YOUR HAND IN THAT INSTANCE? LOOK, THE REALITY IS THAT’S A THREE SECOND PORTION OF A LONGER DEBATE. AND I IMMEDIATELY STOP THE INTERVIEW AND ASK FOR IOWANS TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WEIGH IN ON THIS. AT THE END OF THE DAY, THIS HAS BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM THE FEDERAL COURT OR FROM THE FEDERAL LEVEL, AND IT’S BEEN GIVEN BACK TO THE PEOPLE OF IOWA. I BELIEVE STRONGLY THAT WE NEED TO AFFORD IOWANS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A VOICE IN THIS. SO WOULD THAT BE A NO THEN ON A NATIONWIDE BAN AS FEDERAL ACTION? YEAH, I DON’T THINK THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS AND I WOULD PUSH BACK. I’LL GO SO FAR AS TO SAY I WILL PUSH BACK ON REPUBLICANS OR DEMOCRATS THAT TRY TO TAKE THIS RIGHT AWAY FROM THE STATE. HE ARGUES HE’LL ALWAYS PUSH BACK TO PUT IOWANS FIRST OVER PARTY POLITICS. WHEN YOU STAND UP FOR YOUR PRINCIPLES, YOUR CONSCIENCE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOUR CONSTITUENTS, YOU CAN REALLY HAVE AN OUTSIZED VOICE IN POLICY GOING FORWARD. HERE’S WHERE I’M FRUSTRATED WITH D.C. IT HAS BECOME A TAKE A ALMOST BLOOD OATH TO WHOEVER’S IN LEADERSHIP, AND FEWER AND FEWER PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK WHEN THINGS AREN’T IN THE BEST INTEREST OF IOWANS. ZACH NUNN HAS SERVED AT THE IOWA STATE HOUSE SINCE 2015. HE IS AL

Candidate profile:Republican Zach Nunn is fighting to flip Iowa's only blue seat on Capitol Hill.“I’ve been privileged to serve both on the battlefield for my fellow citizens up at the statehouse leading good legislation. And now, we’re asking for the honor of earning Iowans' vote to be their servant in Washington, D.C.,” Nunn said.He says he wants to take Iowa's Statehouse solutions to Washington.“Fiscal accountability, tax cuts that actually grow communities, support to our law enforcement, a secure southern border that helps America be safe and not drug dependent, while also an on ramp for folks who want to come here and work legally,” Nunn said. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, abortion access has played a key role in the race for Iowa's 3rd district. Nunn points to his voter record, arguing he's a pro-life candidate that's always fought for the life of the mother and baby. “I voted twice for health of the mother with exception for late term pregnancy. And then also looking at exceptions for rape, incest and fetal non-viability, meaning that the child was no longer going to be able to survive. So those are important exceptions that we’ve offered,” Nunn said. But his opponent, Democrat Cindy Axne, has launched several ads that show Nunn in a primary debate, raising his hand to indicate he does not support those exceptions.“Look, the reality is that there’s a three-second portion of a longer debate and I immediately stopped the interview and asked for Iowans to have the opportunity to weigh in on this. At the end of the day, this has been taken away from the Federal Court or from the federal level, and it’s been given back to the people of Iowa. I believe strongly that we need to afford Iowans the opportunity to have a voice in this,” Nunn said.He then elaborated on this view, “I don’t think the federal government needs to be involved in this. And I would push back, I’ll go so far as to say, I will push back on Republicans or Democrats to try to take this right away from the state.”He argues he'll always push back to put Iowans first over party politics.“When you stand up for your principles, your conscience and most importantly, your constituents, you can really have an outsized voice in policy going forward.
