FOOD CENTER AT THE IOWA STATE FAIRGROUNDS. WELL, THE SECOND EVER NASCAR CUP SERIES RACE IS COMING IN 98 DAYS. THE IOWA CORN 350 WILL BE HELD AUGUST 3RD AT THE IOWA SPEEDWAY IN NEWTON. IT’S THE FIRST EVER RACE THAT WAS HELD LAST YEAR. THE SHORT TRACK OPENED IN 2006 WITH NASCAR DRIVER RUSTY WALLACE AS ITS LEAD DESIGNER. NOW, NASCAR HAS OWNED THE TRACK SINCE 2013 AND HOSTED MANY OTHER RACES THERE. SO IT’S JUST A REALLY COOL FACILITY. IT’S GREAT FOR NASCAR TO BE THERE AND HOPING THAT IT’S GOT A LONG, SUCCESSFUL RUN. ON THE AS A STOP ON THE LONG SCHEDULE THAT NASCAR HAS EVERY YEAR, THE DALE EARNHARDT JUNIOR FOUNDATION ALSO USED THE IOWA SPEEDWAY FOR A VIRTUAL RACING EVENT IN JANUARY THAT RAISED $100,000 OVER FOUR HOURS. THE FOUNDATION BENEFITS YOUTH EDUCATION. SHANNON ASKED EARHART JR IF HE PLANNED TO ATTEND THE RACE, AND HE SAID HE’S NOT SURE YET, BUT IF HE’S NOT BUSY, HE SAYS HE WILL TRY. AND AGAIN.
