Today is the end of this recent stretch of cool early September days.
Right now, Iowa sits under an expansive area of high pressure covering the Midwest. As this high continues east tomorrow, our winds will turn to the south, get breezy, and bring heat back to the state.

Monday morning will dawn with less of a chill than recent mornings. Expect lows around 50° overnight.
The rest of tomorrow brings increasing winds, gusting 20-30 mph at times, and highs around 80°. Cloud cover will slowly increase through the day, but we will remain dry.
At the same time, there's a possibility for wildfire smoke to drift back over Iowa. Currently a swath of haze covers the Northern Rockies of Idaho and Montana. This will move slowly toward us into Monday.
There's a low chance of an isolated shower or storm Monday night — mainly in western Iowa. The low chance of rain comes to central Iowa during the day Tuesday. Showers will be isolated to scattered, so many of us could get through the day dry.
This rain chance comes courtesy of a broad wave of low pressure passing overhead. Once it's gone, a large area of high pressure builds into the central US and doesn't leave for the rest of the week.
From Wednesday into the weekend, high temperatures will surge through the 80s to near 90°. At this point, no major systems will look to break this pattern, so sunshine will be the default weather to look forward to.
