Iowa weather: More storms tonight with wind and heavy rain

Iowa weather: More storms tonight with wind and heavy rain
THANK YOU. YES. I’M HAPPY TO BE HERE. AND, YEAH, I MEAN, WE’VE GOT CHANCES FOR MORE STORMS OUT THERE TONIGHT. I KNOW LAST NIGHT WAS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT FOR A LOT OF FOLKS TO THE NORTHWEST AND THROUGH NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. I DON’T THINK TONIGHT WILL BE AS IMPACTFUL AS FAR AS THE WIND GOES. BUT AGAIN, WE’VE GOT THE RAIN THAT’S GOING TO BE MAKING ITS WAY IN ALONG WITH THIS. AND WE HAVE CERTAINLY SEEN A SOGGY JULY AND COULD SEE A FEW MORE INCHES OF RAINFALL. YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW SLOW THIS STORM IS MOVING AS IT’S PUSHING TO THE SOUTHEAST. THAT IS JUST DUMPING RAIN OVER THE SAME LOCATIONS FOR A SIGNIFICANT PORTIONS OF TIME. SO WE’LL LIKELY SEE THAT CONTINUE TO PUSH TO THE EAST, MAYBE MAKE IT INTO THAT WESTERN PORTION OF THE METRO. EVEN IF THAT DOESN’T, WE HAVE GOT A WHOLE LOT MORE STORMS ROLLING OUT NEAR BATTLE CREEK UPWARDS TOWARDS STORM LAKE CLARE WESTWARD INTO NEBRASKA. AND YOU CAN SEE MORE RIGHT ALONG STORM LAKE EASTWARD TOWARDS ROCKWELL CITY THERE, AND MORE UP INTO KOSSUTH COUNTY. SO WIDE AREA SEEING HEAVY RAINFALL AND SOME STRONG WINDS. SEEING MORE PERCOLATING TO THE SOUTHEAST AS WELL. YOU CAN SEE DOWN NEAR OTTUMWA, BLOOMFIELD MILTON AREA. BUT THIS LINE THAT’S SURGING ITS WAY IN FROM THE WEST. AGAIN, THAT COULD BE THE CULPRIT THERE FOR SOME OF THOSE STRONG TO SEVERE WINDS AS THEY SLOWLY PUSH THEIR WAY TO THE SOUTHEAST. THAT MOTION VERY IMPORTANT AGAIN WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR LOCALIZED FLOODING, WE MAY SEE AND AGAIN, FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE OUT THERE TONIGHT AS WELL. SO BY 1 A.M., FAIRLY BROAD AREA EASTWARD TOWARDS MARSHALLTOWN, WEST THROUGH AMES, CONTINUING WEST TOWARDS JEFFERSON. THAT AREA STORMS IS GOING TO MARCH EASTWARD AS WE HEAD INTO THE OVERNIGHT. SO BY 7 A.M., PARALLELING 35 AND REALLY HEAVY RAIN THROUGH SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE, THAT DWINDLES A BIT AS IT PUSHES TO THE EAST AND ON THE BACK SIDE. FINALLY, SOME CHANCES FOR US TO DRY OUT. WE HIT NOON ON WEDNESDAY, STILL SEEING SOME ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS ACROSS THE STATE, AS WE LIKELY WILL AS WE HEAD INTO THE EVENING HOURS. BUT THOSE FINALLY TAPERING BACK INTO THURSDAY MORNING AND THURSDAY TOMORROW AS WELL. LOOKING COOL. WE’RE TALKING HIGHS IN THE MID 70S. THURSDAY WILL LIKELY BE THE FIRST DAY YOU ACTUALLY REALLY GET TO GET OUT AND ENJOY THAT, WHERE IT WILL BE A DRY DAY FOR US, BUT GOING TO BE SOGGY AHEAD OF THAT. CHANCES FOR 1 TO 3IN FAIRLY WIDESPREAD COULD SEE SOME LOCALIZED TOTALS ABOVE THAT. AND AGAIN, WITH THE RAIN THAT WE HAVE SEEN REALLY DON’T NEED ANY MORE ACROSS MOST OF IOWA, WE DO NOT NEED MORE. IN FACT, WE ARE UNDER FLOOD WATCH UNTIL 7:00 TOMORROW MORNING FOR THE WESTERN TWO THIRDS OR SO OF THE STATE. IF YOU’RE HIGHLIGHTED IN GREEN AGAIN, YOU’LL HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE SOME OF THAT ACTIVITY. SO THE WETTEST JULYS WE’VE SEEN, 1958 TAKES THE CAKE AT 10.5IN, THOUGH IT WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH FOR US TO. ROCKET ABOVE THAT. AND I THINK THERE’S A GOOD CHANCE WE DO THAT AS WE HEAD INTO THE OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. BUT WE DO HAVE DRY DAYS AHEAD BEHIND THAT WEDNESDAY AGAIN, SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS. WE ARE COOL AND DRY STARTING THURSDAY. HIGHS IN THE MIDDLE 70S BACK TO 80 B
