Iowa weather: Cooling down into the first week of school
Quite the different day compared to the hot and humid week we’ve had.
Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts
Temperatures struggled to climb deep into the 70s due to the dropping dew points and breezy northwest winds. Skies will remain clear into the evening and this will set us up for some cooler mornings ahead.
We aren’t going to be dropping too far for the weekend with lows staying mostly in the 50s Sunday morning. Some areas, especially northern Iowa, could see some 40s in the morning, but we should be climbing into the upper 60s to low 70s over the state in the afternoon. Expect another breezy day as drier air is still settling in. Monday and Tuesday will be the coolest mornings with 40s returning. The kids will be a little cool at the bus stop, but w should warm up to tshirt weather for the afternoon.
There aren’t any great rain chances moving forward into next week. We could start to see some additional cloud cover later in the week which could also spark some very isolated showers, but no high-confidence storm chances expected. Even the humidity will be staying low all of next week as we wrap up the month of August.
