Iowa weather: Much-needed rain on the way, making for a soggy Drake Relays
TOMORROW AT SNELLING’S TAPROOM. OKAY, JASON, A LOT OF OUTDOOR EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK AND FROM HERE ON OUT NOW THAT IT’S WARMER. SO NOW WE’RE JUST WAITING FOR THE WEATHER TO KIND OF SHAPE UP AND AND ALLOW US TO BE OUT IN IT. EXACTLY. TO STOP BEING SO ANGRY. YEAH. WE NEED THE RAIN. SO THAT’S GOOD. BUT, YOU KNOW, IT IS GOOD. IT STINKS WHEN YOU SEE IT LAND ON SUCH A BIG EVENT, THOUGH. AND A WEEK OF EVENTS. REALLY. BUT YEAH, WE’VE GOT THE SHOWERS OUT THERE. WE’VE GOT THUNDERSTORMS WORKING THEIR WAY ALL THE WAY UP FROM SIOUX RAPIDS, DOWN THROUGH CARROLL, ALL THE WAY DOWN TOWARDS OMAHA, WHERE WE’RE STILL TRACKING THAT SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNED STORM THAT HAS BEEN PUSHING ITS WAY INTO AT LEAST CLOSE TO METRO OMAHA, WEAKENED IN THE LAST COUPLE SCANS. SO AGAIN, WE’LL SEE IF THAT CAN MAKE ITS WAY INTO IOWA AS STRONG AS IT IS NOW. BUT THE STORMS THAT HAVE PUSHED IN HAVE REALLY WEAKENED. YOU CAN SEE FROM DENISON UPWARDS TOWARDS MAPLETON OR SO, A LITTLE BIT OF A GAP THERE. POCAHONTAS THROUGH STORM LAKE PICKING UP SOME DECENT RAIN, EVEN SOME LIGHTNING ON THOSE STORMS. AND YOU GO STATEWIDE HERE. THAT’S THE ONLY GAME IN PLAY RIGHT NOW. IS THAT WEAK LINE THAT’S BEEN WORKING ITS WAY INTO THE STATE. SO THAT’S GOING TO CONTINUE TO PUSH EASTWARD AS WE HEAD INTO THE OVERNIGHT. AND WE’LL LIKELY HEAR SOME RUMBLES AS IT DOES. SO WORKING ITS WAY THROUGH THE METRO GRINNELL AREA EASTWARD TOWARDS DUBUQUE. THEN IT CLEARS OUT FOR A BIT AND WE’RE LEFT WITH LARGELY DRY SKIES. COULD SEE SOME SHOWERS, THE OCCASIONAL THUNDERSTORM TO THE SOUTH, AND I WOULDN’T DOUBT THAT. WE SEE SOME IN THE METRO UPWARDS THROUGH AROUND WATERLOO OR SO AS WE HEAD INTO TUESDAY NIGHT. YOU CAN SEE THAT AREA OF STORMS CONTINUES TO PUSH NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH WEDNESDAY. AND THEN WE AGAIN CATCH A LITTLE BIT OF A GAP BEFORE MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS PUSH THEIR WAY IN TOWARDS WEDNESDAY EVENING TIME FRAME. SO IT’S THIS KIND OF OSCILLATING AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH ON THURSDAY. YOU CAN SEE BULK OF THAT’S THROUGH WESTERN IOWA UPWARDS INTO NORTHERN IOWA AS WELL. TIME WILL TELL AS WE GET A LITTLE BIT CLOSER TO THURSDAY WHERE THOSE LAND AGAIN. BUT YOUR SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TOMORROW IS VERY LOW. WE HAVE A MARGINAL RISK, WHICH IS A LEVEL ONE ON A SCALE THAT GOES UP TO FIVE, COULD SEE AN ISOLATED HAIL MAKER OR AN ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUST. BUT GRAND BLUE MILE I THINK IS GOING TO WORK OUT. WE WILL HAVE AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR SO, AT LEAST AROUND THAT TIME FRAME. WE’LL SEE IF THAT LANDS IN THE METRO. TEMPERATURE WISE THOUGH, IT’S LOOKING GOOD. 60S TO LOW 70S AND WE’VE GOT ONLY A LIGHT BREEZE OUT THERE. SO A PRETTY GOOD DAY FOR IT. AS FAR AS HOW MUCH RAIN YOU CAN EXPECT AS WE WORK OUR WAY IN TOWARDS THE END OF THE WEEK, SOME OF US COULD BE ON THE ORDER OF AN INCH TO TWO INCHES IN TOTAL. THIS WOULD GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH FRIDAY. AFTER THAT, COLD FRONT PASSES THROUGH. SO NOT GOING TO BE THAT WIDESPREAD WITH THOSE AREAS THAT SEE AN INCH OR TWO, BUT MORE POCKETS AS WE WORK OUR WAY INTO THE END OF THE WEEK. TOMORROW, TEMPERATURES BACK INTO THE LOW TO MID 30S AGAIN. THAT CHANCE FOR AN ISOLATED, ISOLATED SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM. EIGHT DAY FORECAST. WE’VE GOT THAT ALL THE WAY INTO THE END OF THE WEEK. AFTER THAT COLD FRONT PASSES THROUGH, THOUGH, WE’RE A LITTLE COOLER. MIDDLE 60S FRIDA

Iowa weather: Much-needed rain on the way, making for a soggy Drake Relays
We've got an active stretch of weather ahead with rain chances nearly every day leading into the weekend. With that said, it won't be continuously raining through that entire stretch. Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts A weak center of low pressure will push through South Dakota and Minnesota tonight into tomorrow bringing rain and storm chances tonight, into the morning Tuesday. Some of the storms tonight may be strong with isolated hail and perhaps gusty winds. As the center of low pressure passes through Minnesota it will continue to drag a boundary through the state that will be responsible for more shower and thunderstorm chances Tuesday/Wednesday. Temperatures will stay warm and in the mid-70s Tuesday through Thursday. Another area of low pressure will move along the Iowa-Missouri border Thursday bringing more chances for rain and thunderstorm activity. Though the severe threat will generally be low, we will keep a chance for a strong storm or two Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances generally depart Friday as the area of low pressure and its associated front finally push into Wisconsin and Illinois, and with high pressure nosing its way in from Minnesota we should be dry for much of Friday afternoon. Temperatures Friday will be cooler with highs in the mid-60s continuing through the rest of the weekend. A very large area of low pressure will build over the mountain west Friday/Saturday and slowly move towards Iowa increasing the shower and thunderstorm chances by late Saturday into Sunday with rain chances continuing throughout the day Sunday. We may again have some potential for hail/strong winds late Sunday with better potential for anything stronger early next week. Iowa weather forecastToday: Mostly cloudy early, then afternoon sunshine. High 67F. Winds WNW at 6 to 12 mph.Tonight: A few clouds overnight. Low 52F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.Tomorrow: Partly cloudy.
