Iowa weather: Showers and storms continue on Thursday
EVERYBODY ENDED UP OKAY. ALL RIGHT. LET’S GO AHEAD AND TAKE A LIVE LOOK FROM MARSHALLTOWN. AS STORMS CONTINUE TO POP UP. WE SAW PICTURES OF SOME OF THE HAIL THAT FELL IN THIS AREA. SOME VIEWER SENT US THAT. WE SHOWED YOU THAT EARLIER IN THE NEWSCAST. WE’RE STILL SEEING STRIKES OF LIGHTNING. YOU JUST SAW ONE THERE, JASON. SO IT KIND OF SEEMS LIKE WE’RE NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET. AS FAR AS AT LEAST SEEING LIGHTNING IN PART OF OUR AREA. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. I MEAN, THE HAIL THREAT HAS DIED DOWN DRAMATICALLY ACROSS A GOOD PORTION OF THE STATE, BUT WE’VE STILL GOT STORMS OUT THERE AND WE’VE STILL GOT HEAVY RAIN IN SPOTS, NOT SO MUCH IN THE METRO. YOU GET UPWARDS TOWARDS AMES, THOUGH. IOWA FALLS THROUGH AROUND STATE CENTER, EVEN AREAS TO THE NORTHWEST LIKE SPENCER. WE’VE GOT SOME THUNDERSTORMS RUMBLING THEIR WAY ON THROUGH. NOTHING SEVERE AT THIS POINT, BUT STILL SOME STRONGER STORMS SOUTH OF PARKERSBURG AND WEST OF WATERLOO. YOU CAN SEE ALL OF THE LIGHTNING NEAR HUBBARD RIGHT NOW TO GO ALONG WITH THAT HUGE CLUSTER OF STORMS THAT WE’VE GOT SPANNING FROM FORT DODGE ALL THE WAY EAST TO WATERLOO. SO PRETTY ACTIVE NIGHT FOR US. THIS AREA OF STORMS, THOUGH, IS SHIFTING ITS WAY TO THE NORTHEAST. IT HAS WEAKENED CONSIDERABLY EVEN OVER THE LAST HOUR OR SO. BUT PRIOR TO THAT WE HAD QUITE A BIT OF HAIL FALL AREAS LIKE FORT DODGE. AGAIN, YOU SAW THE PICTURES. THE GROUND MADE IT LOOK LIKE IT WAS JANUARY WITH SNOW ALL OVER THE PLACE AND ONE WIND GUST OF OVER 60MPH. NORTH OF I-80. THERE, EAST OF AUDUBON. THOSE HAILS CONTINUED TO PUSH THEIR WAY TO THE EAST, AND AGAIN AS THEY DID SO, BROUGHT INCH TO INCH AND A HALF HAIL ALONG WITH THEM. SO STILL UNDER THE GUN FOR SOME STORMS TONIGHT. AGAIN, SOME SEVERE. LIKELY THOSE CONTINUE TO PUSH TO THE NORTHEAST. THEN WE GET ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HEADED INTO YOUR MORNING TOMORROW. AND THOSE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE OFF AND ON THROUGHOUT THE DAY. I DO THINK WE’LL HAVE A BIT OF A GAP. I’D SAY PAST AROUND TWO, MAYBE 3 P.M. BEFORE THAT NEXT ROUND OF OF THUNDERSTORMS FIRES UP. YOU CAN SEE AREAS OF THE SOUTHWEST BY 8 P.M. OUT NEAR LAKE PANORAMA. WESTWARD EVEN FURTHER, EVEN INTO OMAHA. WE’RE SEEING THOSE STORMS RACE THEIR WAY ACROSS THE STATE BY 8 A.M., LEFT WITH WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS FRIDAY. WE’RE GOING TO START TO FINALLY DRY OUT A LITTLE BIT, BUT NOT BEFORE QUITE A BIT OF RAINFALL, AS WE COULD SEE SOME SPOTS THAT PICK UP AN INCH OR EVEN TWO OF ADDITIONAL RAINFALL. AND WE STILL CERTAINLY NEED THAT OUT THERE. THAT 12 HOUR FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, STARTING OFF WITH QUITE A BIT OF CLOUD COVER TEMPERATURES PUSHING BACK INTO THE MID 70S, AND WE’LL BRING IN MORE CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS BY THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING TIME FRAME. AND AGAIN COULD SEE SOME OF THAT ACTIVITY EARLY ON IN THE MORNING. SO AS YOU HIT THE ROAD TO HEAD TO WORK, MAKE SURE YOU GOT THAT UMBRELLA WITH YOU. EXTENDED FORECAST. WE SEE A SATURDAY LOOKING BEAUTIFUL. WE’VE GOT CLEAR SKIES THEN AND LIGHT WINDS. AND AS WE HEAD INTO THE DAY ON SUNDAY, YOUR CHANCES FOR SHOWERS PICK UP. BUT BY MONDAY, THAT’S OUR NEXT CHANCE FOR STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS THAT ARE GOING TO BE WORKING THEIR WAY ACROSS THE STATE. DETAILS ARE STILL A LITTLE MURKY AS WE’RE A LITTLE FAR OUT, BUT IT DOES LOOK LIKE IT COULD BE A PRETTY IMPACTFUL DAY, SO WE’LL KEEP AN EYE ON THAT AS WE INCH CLOSER. BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET OUTSIDE LATE FRIDAY. AND IF NOT THAT SATURDAY AGAIN, THE GEM OF THE EIGHT DAY FORECAST HERE. AFTER THAT, MORE SHOWERS ROLL IN SUNDAY. THOSE STORMS INTO MONDAY AS
