Iowa weather: Haze lingers into Friday with a mix of clouds and sun
THAT WAS MARCH 16TH. WE’VE GOT SOME PRETTY GREAT WEATHER RIGHT NOW, JASON, YOU’VE GOT SOME OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES HAPPENING. I KNOW WE’VE GOT STATE SOCCER GOING ON RIGHT NOW, BUT OTHER FUN EVENTS GOING ON THIS TIME OF YEAR AND THE WEATHER IS GOING TO BE PRETTY DECENT FOR IT. IT’S LOOKING GREAT. YEAH. I MEAN, WE’LL HAVE PERIODS OF RAIN HERE AND THERE, BUT IF YOU’RE HEADED OUT TO THE GREEK FOOD FAIR, IT’S LOOKING GOOD. AND THE FOOD ALWAYS LOOKS BETTER, DOESN’T IT? WE’VE GOT 77 FOR YOUR FRIDAY. AGAIN, AN ISOLATED SHOWER. POSSIBLE SATURDAY. SITTING AT 75. BEST CHANCES FOR RAIN. THERE WILL BE BEFORE NOON. WE COULD SEE SOME LINGER A LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN THAT, BUT THAT WILL MAINLY BE SOUTH OF I-80 AT THAT POINT, AND PERHAPS A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS OUT THERE ON SUNDAY AS WE GET CLOSE TO 80 DEGREES. GOT SOME SHOWERS OUT THERE AT THE MOMENT. IT’S OFF TO THE WEST. ANITA TOWARDS GREENFIELD STEWART AREA. THIS CAN HOLD TOGETHER. WE’LL LIKELY SEE SOME OF THIS LIGHT RAIN WORK ITS WAY INTO THE METRO, BUT HEAVIER SHOWERS UP NEAR IDA GROVE EASTWARD TOWARDS ROCKWELL CITY. AND YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE HEAVIEST SITS RIGHT NOW NEAR OLD BOLT EAST TOWARDS LAKEVIEW. THAT’S RIGHT AROUND HIGHWAY 47. AREA WITH MORE SHOWERS UP FROM MALLARD TOWARDS ALGONA INTO KOSSUTH COUNTY THERE. SO GOT SOME BENEFICIAL RAINS WORKING THEIR WAY THROUGH. THERE’S MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM OFF TO THE WEST. SO WE’LL BE DEALING WITH THESE SHOWERS FOR A LITTLE BIT LONGER, LOOKING OUT IN AREAS LIKE ALGONA, YOU CAN SEE WET ROADS OUT THERE FROM THE RAIN THAT THEY HAVE HAD FALLING. AND AGAIN, WE’RE DRY IN THE METRO HERE, BUT EVEN DOWNWARDS TOWARDS LAMONI, THEY’VE SEEN A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT RAIN FALLING OUT THERE AS WELL. HOUR BY HOUR. CONTINUING TO TRACK OUT THE SHOWERS, YOU CAN SEE THAT CONTINUES TO WORK ITS WAY THROUGH AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW MORNING. THERE’S AREAS OFF TO THE SOUTH AND INTO THE WEEKEND HERE. WE’LL BRING IN MORE CHANCES, ESPECIALLY EARLY ON SATURDAY. YOU LOOK AT AROUND 11 A.M. WE’VE GOT THAT SOUTHERN PORTIONS, WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE THAT GETS OUT OF HERE. IF YOU HAVE EVENING PLANS ON SATURDAY, IT’S REALLY NOT LOOKING BAD. IT’S LOOKING DRY. BUT WE DO BRING IN ANOTHER CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS SUNDAY MORNING. THAT’S GOING TO TAKE A HIKE ON OUT OF HERE TOO. SO WE DO NEED THE RAIN. WE DO AGAIN. WE’RE MOST OF US ARE IN SOME STAGE OF DROUGHT AND THIS SYSTEM PAIR SYSTEMS COULD BRING ANYWHERE FROM A QUARTER OF AN INCH TO A HALF AN INCH THROUGH NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE, WITH THE HEAVIEST RAIN FALLING THROUGH SOUTHERN AND SOUTHWESTERN IOWA. THAT EIGHT DAY FORECAST TEMPERATURES HOVERING IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S FOR A STRETCH HERE STARTING NEXT WEEK, WITH ANOTHER CHANCE FOR RAIN ON MONDAY. AFTER THAT, WE’RE DRY FOR A FEW AND TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO RESPOND NICELY. WE’RE BACK INTO THE LOW TO MID 80
