Some clouds will stick around overnight, then we're looking at sunshine back tomorrow. Wednesday brings a return to the 80s and light northeast winds.
After tomorrow, a large high-pressure ridge settles over the central US. That means multiple days of mostly dry weather and ever warmer temperatures.
Highs around 90° are back on Friday and winds will get breezy again from the southwest. This warm southwest breeze will stick around through the weekend.
Saturday still looks like the hottest day on the horizon. Most of Iowa will top 90°, and a few areas could climb closer to the mid-90s. In the Des Moines area, temperatures will stop a few degrees short of the record high of 96°.
By Sunday, the high-pressure ridge shifts eastward enough to bring us closer to the jet stream carrying storm systems by to our west. Some rain is possible later Sunday into Monday. Until then, plan on a dry stretch of days.
