Iowa weather: Heating up for Mother’s Day weekend
Saturday and Sunday will start in the 50s and finish in the mid to low 80s.

The winds will slowly increase and become breeze Monday, lasting for most of the next work week. Highs will steadily climb deeper through the week with mid and even upper 80s possible across the state. As of now, 90s are not expected. Temperatures will still stay 10 degrees or more above average for most of the next 8 days.
The forecast period is very dry. The only glimmer of any rain chances for Iowa comes at the end of the next work week with warmer temperatures and climbing dew points Thursday. We should start to feel some humidity by this point along with the chance for precipitation. Long-range models are showing a cold front moving in around Thursday/Friday. If the timing is right, that could lead to stronger storm development. However, it is still too far out to say anything specific on location or timing over the Midwest. We will continue to monitor the developments as we get closer to the ides of May.
