Iowa weather: Temps begin to cool down after Wednesday, storm chances through Saturday
HOPING THEY’RE GOING TO HAVE SOME GOOD WEATHER FOR THIS. I THINK THEY WILL. I’LL BE OUT THERE SUNDAY EMCEEING TOO. IF ANYBODY WANTS TO COME OUT AND SAY HI, I’LL BE OUT THERE. TOUGH ASSIGNMENT. MCGILLICUDDY OVER HERE, RIGHT? ONE OF THE HARDEST I’VE EVER DONE. I SWEAR. BUT, YEAH, I THINK SUNDAY IS LOOKING GOOD. SUNDAY MIGHT BE THE NEXT DAY OUT OF THE NEXT FIVE THAT WE DON’T SEE RAIN. SO KIND OF NICE TO LOOK AT A WEEKEND WHERE WE’VE GOT ALL THESE FESTIVITIES AND IT’S GOING TO COOPERATE FOR US. YOUR SUPER DOPPLER EIGHT RIGHT NOW. HOWEVER, NOT COOPERATING UNLESS YOU WANT. THE RAIN. GOT A LITTLE BIT OFF NOW NEAR MARTINSDALE DOWN OFF 35 THERE AND THEN SOME MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS UP NEAR SAC CITY. THESE HAVE BEEN REALLY PULSING STORMS. THEY PULSE UP FOR A BIT. WE’VE SEEN THEM SPIT OUT A LITTLE BIT OF HAIL, AND THEN THEY KIND OF WEAKEN, DIE DOWN AND GET SOME GUSTY WINDS GOING ALONG WITH THEM TO JUST SOUTHWEST OF ALGONA. YOU CAN SEE WE’VE GOT THAT NEAR HIGHWAY 15 UPWARDS TOWARDS EMMITSBURG AND EVEN TO THE EAST HERE, CHARLES CITY, PLAINFIELD AREA DOWN NEAR ALLISON, PICKING UP ON SOME STORMS. AND WE HAD SOME NEAR GREENFIELD. BUT AS I SAID, THEY’VE BEEN REALLY PULSING. SO THEY KIND OF FIRE UP AND THEN THEY WEAKEN AND WELL, THEY ARE NEARLY GONE ALREADY DOWN IN THAT NECK OF THE WOODS. AS WE HEAD PAST SUNSET, WE’LL LIKELY SEE A LOT OF THIS ACTIVITY KIND OF DIE DOWN A LITTLE BIT FURTHER TO, BUT STILL PICKED UP SOME RAIN. AND AS WE TREK OUR WAY INTO THE OVERNIGHT, YOU CAN SEE THAT WEAKENS COMPLETELY. BUT BY TOMORROW MORNING GOT A LOAN THUNDERSTORM THERE NEAR FORT DODGE THAT WILL BECOME MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE NOON HOUR AS ANOTHER KIND OF BAND OF PRECIPITATION AND STORMS PUSHES ITS WAY TO THE EAST. SO TOMORROW LOOKS TO BE A PRETTY WATERLOGGED DAY FOR A LOT OF US HEADING IN TOWARDS THURSDAY. WE’LL STILL CARRY MORE CHANCES. MAY NOT BE QUITE AS RAINY AS WEDNESDAY, BUT STILL GOING TO PUT OUT A DECENT AMOUNT OF RAIN. THERE WILL BE SPOTS WHERE WE PICK UP, I’D SAY AROUND AN INCH, MAYBE AN INCH AND A HALF CARROLL COMING IN AT AROUND AN INCH. THIS IS ONLY THROUGH 6 A.M. ON THURSDAY. KEEP IN MIND WE’RE GOING TO HAVE RAIN CHANCES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AS WELL. SO 1 TO 2IN IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION FOR THE AMOUNT OF RAIN THAT WE COULD SEE. AS THIS SYSTEM CONTINUES TO PUSH THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK HERE, LOOK AT LAKE PANORAMA RIGHT NOW. THIS LOOKS LIKE A PAINTING. WE LIVE IN A BEAUTIFUL PLACE. WE’VE GOT THESE VIEWS ALL OVER THE PLACE. MARSHALLTOWN LOOKING GOOD, IF NOT JUST A LITTLE BIT RAINY. GOT SOME STORM CLOUDS OFF IN THE DISTANCE THERE. YOUR 12 HOUR FORECAST FOR TOMORROW PUSHES THAT TEMPERATURE BACK UP INTO THE MIDDLE 80S. YOU CAN SEE THOUGH BY THE AFTERNOON WE’LL START TO INCREASE THAT CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS. THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME THUNDERSTORMS AND A LOT OF AREAS TO THE WEST LIKELY GOING TO SEE THAT EVEN PRIOR TO, I’D SAY 1 P.M. BUT AS WE LOOK AT THE FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, IT IS GOING TO BE ANOTHER WARM ONE. AVERAGE SITS AT AROUND 77, WILL BE NEARLY TEN DEGREES ABOVE THAT 86 FOR THE METRO AMES COMING IN AT THE SAME AREAS TO THE SOUTH MID TO UPPER 80S. YOU CAN SEE THOSE CHANCES FOR STORMS PERSIST AS WE WORK OUR WAY IN TOWARDS THE WEEKEND 84 ON THURSDAY. FOR CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE STATE, 77 ON FRIDAY AND TO THE NORTH MORE OF THE SAME. THOSE CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE. IF YOU’VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR A FALL FEEL, YOU DON’T GET TO WAIT TOO MUCH LONGER HERE. THOSE TEMPERATURES TUMBLE BACK DOWN TO 77 ON FRIDAY, AND AGAIN, THAT IS THE AVERAGE HIGH FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR, AND WE BOUNCE RIGHT BACK UP INTO THE 80S FOR YOUR SATURDAY SUNDAY. LOOKING GREAT. BACK DOWN INTO THE MIDDLE 70S BY

Better rain chances will move in for the rest of the week with the highest chances Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will be trending downward with a more seasonal feel for the end of the work week. Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts | SkycamsThe upper-level weather pattern we are in favors days of rain chances like we have in the forecast. We are expecting showers and storms over at least parts of the state ever day until the back end of the weekend. However, the weather set up is not conducive for severe weather. There will be a chance for some strong gusty winds under showers/storms over the next couple of days along with a chance to spot some funnel clouds. With high cloud bases, any funnels that do form are expected to stay elevated. As of now, the flood threat is not expected to become a factor with the extended rain chances with recent dry conditions. We could see some areas picking up an inch or 2 of rain through the week where multiple rounds of thunderstorms pass over. Additional rain chances possible as we officially start off the fall season.
