Iowa weather: Fall feels are back with more rain chances late Thursday
AND THERE’S SO MANY AND THERE’S SO MANY PRECIOUS ONES. YEAH. GO ADOPT ALL THE CATS. IF YOU DON’T, I WILL. OR WE WILL. YEAH, EXACTLY, EXACTLY. BUT YEAH, IT IS GOING TO GET CHILLY. I MEAN, SOME OF US UPPER 30S OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. THAT’S COLD. YEAH. IT IS. THAT’S COLD. AND WE WILL WARM BACK UP. BUT IF YOU’RE NOT A FAN OF THE COLDER WEATHER, WELL, HUNKER DOWN TONIGHT. YOU CAN SEE THE BREEZE NEVER REALLY GETS GOING TOMORROW MORNING. WE’LL GET A LITTLE BIT OF CLOUD COVER THAT’S GOING TO MOVE IN BY THE AFTERNOON, THOUGH. WE WILL TAP INTO A LITTLE BIT OF A GENERAL BREEZINESS. WE’LL CALL IT WINDS UPWARDS OF AROUND 15 TO 25MPH. THEN COMES OUR CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS. COULD SEE AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM AS A LINE STARTS TO PUSH ITS WAY ON THROUGH. AS THIS MOVES THROUGH, WE’LL LIKELY SEE AN UPTICK IN THOSE WIND GUSTS AS WELL. COULD SEE AROUND 30 TO EVEN 35 MILE PER HOUR GUSTS. AS THIS ROLLS THROUGH BEHIND IT. STILL SEEING STRONG WINDS. THOSE WILL CONTINUE INTO THE DAY ON FRIDAY, THOUGH I THINK FRIDAY WE ARE LOOKING DRY AND I THINK INTO THE WEEKEND WE’RE LOOKING DRY AS WELL. LOOKS TO BE REALLY NICE. IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO HEAD OUT TO THE CY-HAWK SHOWDOWN OUT THERE, RAIN TRACKER DOESN’T PUT OUT A TON. MAYBE A 10TH TO 3/10. I WOULD SAY AT MOST, AS THIS LINE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS WORKS ITS WAY ON THROUGH. AND FOR MOST OF THE DAY, I THINK WE’RE LOOKING BEAUTIFUL. BULK OF THE RAIN IS GOING TO BE EVEN OUT EVEN LATER THAN 7 P.M., I’D SAY AROUND 8:00 FOR THE METRO, BUT WE WAKE UP TO TEMPERATURES IN THE 40S, AND SOME OF US IN THE 30S. YEAH, IT’S GOING TO BE A LITTLE CHILLY OUT THERE, BUT BY THE AFTERNOON, SOAK IT IN. IT IS GOING TO BE A BEAUTIFUL DAY. SUNNY SKIES, TEMPERATURES BACK IN THE LOW TO MID 70S. SO 73 FOR AMES, 72 FOR FORT DODGE, 74 FOR THE METRO. WE’RE AT 72 DOWN EVEN IN SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE. THAT EXTENDED FORECAST BRINGS IN MAYBE A STRAY SHOWER UPWARDS TOWARDS KOSSUTH COUNTY, EASTWARD TOWARDS DUBUQUE. AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS. BUT BULK OF THE WEEKEND LOOKS DRY EVEN AS WE START NEXT WEEK. IT LOOKS DRY, AND THEN WE’RE GOING TO START TO WARM UP A LITTLE BIT, WHICH WE’LL TAKE A LOOK AT HERE FOR THE CY-HAWK GAME, THOUGH STILL LOOKS TO STAY COOL. PERFECT FOOTBALL WEATHER. I KNOW YOU’RE GOING TO BE HEADING OUT TO TAILGATE. YOU’RE GOING TO BE DRESSING A LITTLE BIT WARMER FOR THAT. I HOPE YOU GOT YOUR FLANNEL PADDED OVERALLS ON YOU. 62 AT KICKOFF. AND AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE AFTERNOON, WE’RE PUSHING BACK UPWARDS TOWARDS 70 DEGREES. WE’LL EVENTUALLY HAVE A RIDGE THAT WILL BUILD IN. YOU CAN SEE THAT OFF TO THE WEST, BUT THIS PESKY TROUGH WANTS TO STICK AROUND THROUGH THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. AND THAT’S WHAT’S BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE COOLER AIR THAT WE’VE BEEN EXPERIENCING NOW, AND WILL CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE INTO THE END OF THE WEEKEND. BUT IF YOU’RE NOT A FAN OF THE COOLER WEATHER, WHICH WE’LL HAVE THROUGH SUNDAY, WE’LL TAKE A LOOK AT NEXT WEEK. YEAH, WE’RE WARMING BACK UP. WE’LL BRING IN A STRAY SHOT AT A SHOWER TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. OTHERWISE, SUMMER IS NOT QUITE DONE WITH US YET.
