Iowa Weather: Gusty winds continue tomorrow

Spring warmth quickly returns today with highs jumping into the upper 70s Sunday

IOWA’S NEWS LEADER. HOW COOL. GOOD LUCK TO OUR ATOMIC NARWHALS. WELL, AND FOR ALL OF US WHO ARE HERE IN IOWA, IT’S REALLY A GREAT WEEKEND. HONESTLY, THERE’S NO EXCUSE TO NOT GO OUTSIDE AND ENJOY THE DAY. YEAH, ESPECIALLY WITH THE SUNSHINE AND THE WARMTH THAT WE HAVE. IT’S FELT NICE ALL DAY TODAY. YES, WE’VE BEEN BATTLING A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE HERE OUT OF THE SOUTH, BUT OVERALL I THINK PEOPLE ARE GETTING PAST THAT AND GETTING OUTDOORS, ESPECIALLY WITH THE WARMTH THAT WE SAW TODAY. TEMPERATURES ARE STILL MILD. WE’RE CLOSE TO 70 DEGREES IN CENTRAL IOWA. WARMER TEMPERATURES OUT INTO FAR WESTERN IOWA. 72 IN CARROLL AND ATLANTIC AT THE 6:00 HOUR. NOW AND THEN 70, OR AT LEAST CLOSE TO THAT HERE IN THE METRO AREA. WE’VE HAD SOME HIGH CLOUDS MOVE IN. SO A LITTLE BIT OF A FILTERED SUNSHINE. LOOK HERE UNTIL THE SUN SETS THIS EVENING. BUT THAT’S KEEPING OUR TEMPERATURES PRETTY STABLE. WE’VE GOT A SOUTH WIND THOUGH, SUSTAINED AT 26MPH. SO WE DO HAVE THE STRONGER BREEZE LINGERING HERE THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. TONIGHT. WE HEAD INTO THE DAY TOMORROW. ON YOUR SUNDAY. THERE’S A FEW CLOUDS IN THE MORNING TOMORROW, BUT BY THE AFTERNOON HOURS WE’RE TALKING MORE SUNSHINE AND MUCH WARMER. I THINK HIGH TEMPERATURES SURPASSED TODAY’S AND CLIMB WELL INTO THE 70S HERE BY THE AFTERNOON HOURS ON SUNDAY. SO WE GET CLOSER TO 80 TOMORROW AFTERNOON. HERE’S THE CLOUD COVER THAT’S MOVING IN RIGHT NOW. NO RAIN OR STORMS WITH THIS. JUST SOME CLOUD COVER PUSHING THROUGH AS WE GO INTO YOUR SATURDAY EVENING. HERE’S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TOMORROW. WE START OFF SUNDAY MORNING. YES, WITH A FEW CLOUDS, BUT IT’S GOING TO BE MILD OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. LITTLE WAVE OF ENERGY MAY BRING A SHOWER OR STORM UP INTO NORTHERN IOWA TO START OFF THE DAY ON SUNDAY. THAT’S GOING TO BE PRETTY ISOLATED. EVERYTHING MOVES OUT THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. TOMORROW WE’RE BACK TO SUNSHINE AND AGAIN. THOSE TEMPERATURES CLIMB CLOSE TO 80 DEGREES BY THE AFTERNOON HOURS ON SUNDAY, SOME MORE CLOUDS ROLL IN BY MONDAY MORNING, SO WE’LL CALL IT PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES ON MONDAY. TEMPERATURES A LITTLE BIT COOLER. MONDAY WE WILL HAVE A STRONG WIND, BUT IT’S GOING TO BE OUT OF THE NORTH AND NORTHWEST, SO OUR TEMPERATURES MONDAY AFTERNOON BACKING DOWN ONLY INTO THE LOW 60S, WHICH IS NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. SO WE’LL KEEP THE MILD TEMPERATURES AROUND THROUGH THE FIRST PART OF NEXT WEEK. BUT THE REST OF TONIGHT WILL BE BREEZY HERE. THOSE WINDS WILL STAY ELEVATED AT LEAST UNTIL PROBABLY MIDNIGHT OR SO. MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK FROM THE STRONG WINDS TOMORROW. NOT AS GUSTY ON SUNDAY AND THEN DEFINITELY A BREAK SUNDAY EVENING FROM THE WIND. BUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS OVERNIGHT SUNDAY INTO MONDAY. STRONGER WINDS PUSH IN FOR THE START OF THE DAY. MONDAY IT’S A NORTHWEST WIND WITH GUSTS CLOSE TO 40MPH, IF NOT OVER 40MPH, SO THAT’LL BE PRETTY CLOSE TO WIND. ADVISORY CRITERIA THERE. MONDAY A LITTLE BREAK TOMORROW, BUT THEN STILL PRETTY GUSTY MONDAY AND TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. SO TONIGHT’S FORECAST DROPS US BACK TO THE LOW 50S. NOT BAD TONIGHT. MUCH WARMER TOMORROW. MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS IN THE MORNING, TEMPERATURES CLIMBING INTO THE LOW 80S. THERE OUT INTO SOUTHWESTERN IOWA. TOMORROW WE’LL TAKE IT INTO THE 60S BY LUNCHTIME TOMORROW AND THEN WARMING INTO THE MID AND UPPER 70S BY THE AFTERNOON HOURS ON SUNDAY. NICE DAY TO ROUND OUT THE WEEKEND. LOW 60S THERE MONDAY AND TUESDAY WITH THE WINDS STAYING STRONG. 70 RETURN ON WEDNESDAY. RIGHT NOW, RAIN CHANCES LOOKING PRETTY SLIM. WE’LL CALL IT. MAYBE A SHOWER CHANCE THURSDAY, LATE WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY. OTHERWISE PRETTY NICE, AT LEAST FOR THE TIME BEING. AS WE HEAD INTO NEXT WEEKEND, WHICH
